A bevy of 20 lovely staffers from Bintan Lagoon Resort took to the lobby floor in a dazzling parade of kebaya outfits on 21 April to mark Hari Kartini Day. Resplendent in colourful traditional attire, the ladies made themselves proud as they sashayed with smiles and elegance to the admiring glances of guests who gathered for the high tea show.
General Manager Gerald A Hendrick welcome VIPs - Mr. Doli Boniara, Head of Social Service of Riau Islands Province, Mrs. Umi Kalsum, Head of Arts Department of Culture of Riau Islands Province, H.E Mr. James Sydney Sinclair Manley, The Ambassador of Portugal to Singapore and H.E. Mr. Luis Joao De Sousa Lorvao, The Ambassador of Chile to Singapore and other guests to the event. Guests enjoyed a sumptuous Hari Kartini Day High Tea spread of delicious Indonesian savouries such as Javanese smoked salmon wrap, opor ayam pie, rendang burger, a laksa station and sweet treats such as cinnamon scones as well as local and western pastries.
The top three employees of the Kabaya Show with the most votes were Anita Kasmawati, winner; Sarda Yanti, first runner-up and Erniyanti, second runner-up.
Hari Kartini Day is an annual event on held on 21 April to commemorate the birthday of Raden Adjeng Kartini, who was declared a National Hero of Independence in 1964, for championing the rights of women in Indonesia.
