Bintan Lagoon Resort hosts SSG-BLR International Amateur Championship 2018

In partnership with the Society of Singapore Golfers, Bintan Lagoon Resort was proud to host the SSG-BLR International Amateur Championship 2018. The event was held at Jack Nicklaus Seaview Course from 6 - 9 May. 

A total of 46 individuals have registered and participated in this World Amateur Golf Ranking (WAGR) counting event.  

The event was open to all amateurs with a valid USGA Handicap Index as stipulated in the following respective Divisions:

Men's Divison: Handicap Index of 12.0 and below
Ladies' Division: (Handicap Index of 16.0 and below
Seniors' (Men) Division: Handicap Index of 18.0 and below

SSG-BLR International Amateur Championship 2018 was played over 54 holes stroke play with a cut off after 36 holes. Top 60% of the field, including ties, competed in the final round. 

The winners in the following divisions are:

Men’s Division
Champion: Ong Tian Huat Danny (255)
1st Runner-up: Mohamed Redhza Bin Abdul Rahim (259)
2nd Runner-up: Ang Hee Kian Eddie (261)
3rd Runner-up: Chua Poh Yong (263)

Men’s (Senior) Division
Champion: Choo Gim Kang (265 OCB)
Runner-up: Neo Aik Beng (265)

Women’s Division
Champion: Carolina Selins Law (269)
Runner-up: Tan Soon Kim (276)

The Champion, Mr Danny Ong Tian Huat will also get to participate in the prestigious Singapore Open.

About The Society of Singapore Golfers (SSG)
The Society of Singapore Golfers (SSG) was founded in 2003 by a group of golfers led by Mr Raymond Tan. It was registered with the Registry of Societies on 28 Jan 2003.  A golf club without real estate, it is a Member Club of the United States Golf Association (USGA) and also an Associate Member of the Singapore Golf Association.

The SSG is essentially an apolitical and non-profit organisation whose primary objectives are to promote and stimulate the interest in golf and to serve and provide golfers with a wide range of services and programmes. It is managed by volunteers who are elected into the SSG’s Management Committee.

Apart from its objectives of promoting the game of golf and making the game an affordable sport, SSG also plays an important part in building cohesiveness in the sport in Singapore. SSG is committed to taking a pro-active role in building an atmosphere of trust and harmony amongst its members.
